Week overview and updates:. Fall Break is Oct. 12-16! Please encourage your child to stay focused this week as we wrap up Module 1 and begin Module 2. I will be giving the students the Module 2 Vocabulary Words this week. The test will be after Fall Break on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Monday: End Module Study Guide is Due. We will review Multiplying and Dividing Decimals. Homework: 10 minutes of IXL using the skills J6, J5 (Check Analytics for complete minutes) Tuesday: End Module Review; We will complete a Math Mystery on rounding decimals, multiplying and dividing decimals and adding and subtracting decimals Homework: Study for End Module Test Wednesday: End Module 1 Test; Work on a Coordinate Plane Homework: No Homework Thursday: Module 2 Lesson 1 Multiply multi-digit whole numbers and multiples of 10 using place value patterns and the distributive and associative properties. Vocabulary Words for Module 2 will be shared. The test over these words will be Wednesday, Oct. 21. Homework: Workbook Module 2 Lesson 1 Homework Friday: Module 2 Lesson 2 Estimate multi-digit products by rounding factors to a basic fact and using place value patterns. Homework: No Homework Module 2 Vocabulary Study Guide Multiple- the product of a whole number and any other whole number Parentheses- used in mathematics as grouping symbols for operations. When simplifying an expression, the operations with in the parentheses are performed first. rounding- A strategy to find about how much or how many by expressing a number closest to ten, hundred, thousand, or tenth, hundredth, thousandth, etc. estimate- A number close to an exact amount, an estimate tells about how much distributive property- when one of the factors of a product is a sum, multiplying each addend before adding does not change the product. Example: 5(m x 12) 5(m) + 5(12)= 5 x m + 5 x 12= 5m + 60 decompose- To separate into components or basic elements exponents- the number of times a number is to be used as a factor in a multiplication expression (103= 10 x 10 x 10) area model- A model of multiplication that shows each place value product foot- A customary unit of length 1 foot= 12 inches inch- A customary unit of length 12 inches = 1 foot milligram- A metric unit of weight 1000 milligrams = 1 gram equivalent measures- measurements that are equal (100 cm = 1 meter) divisor- the quantity by which another quantity is to be divided dividend- the quantity you are dividing quotient- the answer to a division problem remainder- the number left over when dividing one integer by another

I received my bachelor's degree from Harding University. This is my 5th year at Richland. I taught 7 years at Harding Academy, before staying home with my children.
