Monday- Mid-Module 3 Study Guide is due. We will review adding and subtracting fractions to prepare for the test. Tuesday- Lesson 7- Solve two-step word problems. Wednesday- Mid-Module 3 Test; Math Mystery Thursday- Lesson 8- Add fractions to and subtract fractions from whole numbers using equivalence and the number line as strategies. Friday- Lesson 9-Add fractions making like units numerically. Looking ahead... The End Module 3 test will be Dec. 18

Next week is Thanksgiving Break. We will be out of school for the entire week! I am so thankful for each of your families. I hope you have a safe and restful break.
We are starting Module 3 this week. Students should have brought the Module 1/2 book home. We will no longer need that book. I will be giving the students a new Module 3/4 book on Monday. Our focus for Module 3 and 4 will be fractions! There are only 15 lessons in this module, so we will finish this module by Winter Break. Students will need to make sure and watch the videos if they miss a lesson so they do not get behind. I have some great adding and subtracting fractions games under the Math Game section for students to practice. Monday- Lesson 1 Make equivalent fractions with the number line, the area model, and numbers. Tuesday- Lesson 3 Add fractions with unlike units using the strategy of creating equivalent fractions. Wednesday-Lesson 4 Add fractions with sums between 1 and 2. Thursday- Lesson 5 Subtract fractions with unlike units using the strategy of creating equivalent fractions. Mid-Module Study guide will come home today. It will be due the Monday after Thanksgiving Break. Friday- Module 3 Vocabulary Test; Lesson 6 Subtract fractions from numbers between 1 and 2. The Module 3 Vocabulary Study Guide was sent home on Friday, Nov. 15. The test over these words will be Friday, Nov. 22. Remember, students can make flash cards for 5 bonus points on the test. The mid-module 3 study guide will go home Thursday, Nov. 21. It will be due the Monday (Dec. 2) after Thanksgiving Break. The mid-module 3 test will be Wednesday, Dec. 4 Monday- No school
Tuesday-Lesson 29 Wednesday- End Module 2 Study Guide is due. We will review the study guide and practice division skills. Thursday- Review Division Skills Friday-End Module 2 Test; 4 Quadrant Coordinate Plane We will have a half day of school on Friday, Nov. 8. The students will be dismissed at 12:15. Also, there will be no school on Monday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

Tuesday- Lesson 26 Divide decimal dividends by two-digit divisors, estimating quotients, reasoning about the placement of the decimal point, and making connections to a written method. Wednesday- Lesson 27 Divide decimal dividends by two-digit divisors, estimating quotients, reasoning about the placement of the decimal point, and making connections to a written method. Thursday- End Module 2 Study Guide will come home. It will be due Wednesday,. Nov. 13 Lesson 28 Solve division word problems involving multi-digit division with group size unknown and the number of groups unknown. Friday- Half Day of School Dismissal at 12:15; Spelling Bee (8:30) for selected students The End Module 2 Study Guide will come home Thursday, Nov. 7. It will be due Wednesday, Nov. 13. I received my bachelor's degree from Harding University. This is my 5th year at Richland. I taught 7 years at Harding Academy, before staying home with my children.
