Testing is over! We will be back to our regular schedule this week. I am so proud of how our students worked to do his/her best on the test. They enjoyed all of the snacks last week and this week.
We will begin a study of Mean, Median, Mode and Range. This is a 6th grade skill, but we will use these concepts to help strengthen our adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing skills. We will also work to strengthen our skills with fractions. Monday- Begin Mean, Median, Mode and Range; watch a BrainPOP and complete an activity; Homework: Adding Fractions Tuesday- Mean, Median Mode and Range in a grocery store setting; Homework: Subtracting Fractions Wednesday- Mean, Median, Mode and Range; Homework: Multiplying Fractions Thursday- Mental Math Quiz; Mean, Median, Mode and Range Escape Room; Homework: Dividing Fractions Friday- End of Year Fraction Test; Math Mystery on Place Value

This week we will be reviewing 5th grade math skills for the TN Ready tests. I will be sending home the only 4th quarter extra credit packet on Thursday, April 25. The packet will be due Thursday, May 9. All scratch paper will be expected to be turned in, as well. Please review your student's 4th quarter grade on Power School to see if he/she would benefit from completing the extra credit opportunity. Tuesday- TN Ready Math Subpart 1 Wednesday- TN Ready Math Subpart 2 and 3 Thursday- TN Ready Science Thank you for signing up for snacks for the TN Ready testing days! Feel free to send the healthy snacks and drinks in on Monday. You do not need to wait for the day you signed up for. Mrs. McNary is still looking for proctors for next week. If you can help from 8:30-11:00ish Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday next week, please let the office know.
TN Ready for Language Arts starts this week. It is very important that your child is on time and at school each day. If a student arrives after testing has started, he/she will be held in the office and then tested later in the day. We will be testing during the morning on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will still be switching classes, but we will have an abbreviated schedule. We will take the TN Ready Math test next week. I have encouraged the students to find skills on IXL to help them review any skills they feel like could use more practice. I am really trying to help them to be proactive in their learning and to seek opportunities to strengthen math skills. Monday- Review of all 5th grade math skills; homework on adding fractions Tuesday- Review of all 5th grade math skills; homework on multiplying fractions Wednesday- Review of Fractions; homework on dividing fractions Thursday- Mental Math Quiz and Math Mystery Friday- No School * Study guide for Mid Module 6 will be given Tuesday. Monday- Today we will review our practice TN Ready Test and go over common mistakes. We will also complete a TN Ready review sheet. Tuesday- Lesson 7- Plot points, use them to draw lines in the plane, and describe patterns within the coordinate pairs. Homework for Tues. night will be the Mid-Module 6 study guide It will be due Thursday to check. Wednesday: Lesson 8-Generate a number pattern from a given rule, and plot the points. Thursday: Go over the Mid Module 6 Study Guide Lesson 9- Generate two number patterns from given rules, plot the points, and analyze the patterns. Friday: Test on Mid-Module 6. Enrichment practice. |

I received my bachelor's degree from Harding University. This is my 5th year at Richland. I taught 7 years at Harding Academy, before staying home with my children.
